Think of this book like Racism 101 (a class that I wish we all had in school, right?) It’s a “Remix” of the original book by Ibram X Kendi—a National Book Award winning author, historian and educator. With this book, Jason Reynolds—Library of Congress' national ambassador for young people's literature—has taken Kendi’s research and framework and rewritten the content for a teen audience.

I really enjoyed the easy, straightforward and no-nonsense tone in which this book written. It gives a basic lexicon, reviewing the major movements and historical players in the development and battle of racism. And it does it all without feeling like a typical history book. It’s easy reading of a very difficult subject. A book that spells it out for us. Thank God, because we really need things spelled out right now.
